Haidong Gumdo is an art of traditional Korean swordsmanship. It focuses primarily on swift fluid motions whose movements emphasize graceful and efficient body control and a calm mind. The traditional techniques that comprise Haidong Gumdo date back hundreds of years and serve to refine the students’ control of the sword so finely that they are able to wield the sword as effectively as if it were their own limb.
The honing of mind and body is the greatest asset of the Haidong Gumdo student, who’s quick mind and sharp reflexes paired with excellent balance give him tools that aid in self defense when paired with any weapon or unarmed skill. Striving to maintain a peaceful mind and calm composure in the mitts of any situation regardless of how stressful is one of the greatest and useful goals of all students.
