N.A.K.F. Instructors
Master Peter G. Oien, a 7th degree Master with over 30 years of experience began his martial arts training in the Korean art of Tae Kwon Do while serving in the military in the mid 1970’s. When he moved to Pennsylvania in 1977 he continued his training in the Korean art of Tang Soo Do and was tested for his black belt in 1980 by the founder of Tang Soo Do, Grand Master Hwang Kee. Since that time, Master Oien has made a long and very successful career of the Martial arts and was inducted into the International Karate and Kickboxing Hall of Fame located in Cleveland, Ohio in 1992. The North American Tang Soo Do Association was founded in 1990 by Master Oien with a constantly growing membership. The Association was founded for the purpose of upholding the traditional teachings and training that have been proven over time. Unlike most organizations, the N.A.T.A. schools teach the art form exactly as it was handed down by the ancient Korean Masters.
Master Ron Robb is a 4th degree Master. He began his training in the Spring of 1992 in the Korean Martial Art of Tang Soo Do under Master Oien at the North American Karate and Fitness located in Greensburg Pa. In March of 1995 he opened his first successful school, located in Greengate Mall Greensburg Pa. He has been teaching since then and recently opened a new location in Mt Pleasant Pa. Ms. Jane Arenas a third degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and Haidong Gumdo began her training 11 years ago in the Greensburg dojang and under Master Oien's guidance, she received her black belt degree in 1999. After moving to Williamsport, she started teaching at the YWCA until opening the Park Avenue school 6 months later. Master Oien's teaching of traditional Tang Soo Do has inspired her to focus on instilling the rich history of the art, exercises of focus and discipline, and activities that promote physical fitness. All the while, she strives to establish a family environment for training and community participation. From her remote location, she continues to be very active in the North American Karate and Fitness organization, attending color belt tests, assisting with tournament coordination, and facilitating with other administrative responsibilities. “I have a deep appreciation for North American Karate and Fitness, Tang Soo Do and Haidong Gumdo. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and skills with all who dream and dare to learn ways that will enrich their lives.”
